Magazine Storage Solutions With Style
and Function
I started looking for magazine storage solutions soon after I discovered I had more piles than anything else. I love magazines as much as books. However, again there is the challenge of how to store all of them in a way that you can reference back to an article without looking through all of the issues you have. My magazines vary from everything from medical journals to home decorating to kids. Even though I read on a regular basis there are just times that I just have other things on my agenda and reading gets pushed to the back burner.
With that in mind I have compiled a list of magazine storage solutions that include organizing your magazines for future reference.
Magazine Organizing Ideas
- Decide what magazine subscriptions you really need. Sometimes you sign up for 2 or 3 years because it is cost effective not realizing that over time you may not want to get the subscription anymore. Keep only those that are your favorites.
- Collect all of your magazines and group them by subject. Then further divide them chronologically.
- Purchase any magazine storage solutions that fit your style and needs. See below for a list of possible matches and ideas.
- If you are only interested in 1 article then don't keep the whole magazine. Tear out the article and place in a file. Categorize all individual articles by subject for easy reference later.
- If you have many magazines to store index them for future reference. Copy the table of contents of all the magazines and keep them in a file or binder in chronological order. This way you can just browse through the table of contents sheets rather than pulling out each individual magazine to view it.
- If you don't reference a certain magazine often, it is best to not keep the subscription for the future. You can always go to your local library and do a search for articles. This is especially true if space is a concern.
- If you want to read an article from a magazine but don't want to keep it make a "to read" folder. Place any article from your magazine that might be interesting to you when you have time to read and toss the magazine. This keeps up with the magazine clutter and helps you save time and focus only on the articles that are of interest to you.
Magazine Storage Solutions
Magazine storage solutions can be found in many office stores. But if you have a large collection or older pieces that need special archiving than on line retailers are the earsiest way unless you have a special store in your area. Some magazine storage solutions are as follows:
- Magazine Binders - These store your magazines vertically. Make sure you label the binder. Put your magazines in chronological order by subject.
- Magazine Storage Rack - This is for display purposes for those magazines that are current and read frequently.
- Magazine Storage Box - These are a good idea for those that are not referred to often or that are archived. The magazines usually are set horizontally.
Don't let the magazines in your life become cluttered and overwhelming to the point that you don't know what you have read or where the most current issue is located. Keeping them organized will save you time and you will find your reading experience much more enjoyable.
